Hi there,
I'd like to find out what the OVIR registration rules are this year as I see there are a lot of changes (especially with border permits).
Since 2007 (or 2008) I can't register in Tyrnyauz just on the way to Tereskol/Azau - is it correct? As I understand the procedure is as follows - please correct is I am wrong:
1. I need to fill a form - can I get it in Tereskol or only in Tyrnyauz?
2. Get the filled form stamped by a hotel - what if I stay at a private flat?
3. Submit it in Tyrnyauz.
4. Get the registration paper.
Should I expect any special problems with OVIR registration?
One more question about vouchers - is it commonly checked? I am afraid I don't have it, though I have my visa. Should I expect many problems because of that?
Thanks a lot

There is a special form to fill out, after this it must be stamped by a hotel where you stay (or where you buy the registration). That is why you can not register on the way from airport as before. You have to come to Elbrus area and negotiate with a hotel/tour agency. The form is pretty complicated. Your passport copy is required.
If you stay in a private flat your host person must register you. There is a special procedure and hardly that will be offered. You will end up by hotel stamp for sure either yourself or through your host.
After you have this form signed and stamped you go to Tyrnauz and register in OVIR (UVIR) office.
There are no other problems besides the processing this. If you stay in Moscow (or somewhere) for more than 3 days before and have no registration you will be fined before you will be registered in Tyrnauz.
Voucher may be checked at the airport. If you have no proper voucher you will be delayed and finally either will pay something to a policeman or spend some time in police office. You will not be arrested or deported but just spend a lot of time for paperwork and other bureaucracy. |
